The first Khleva coat · Launching in Copenhagen

The wool coat, finally lined in cotton.

A 100% wool shell with a 100% cotton lining. Natural fibre on the outside, natural fibre against you. No polyester hiding inside.

So our people can find us first. The first 500 coats will be numbered, inside.

Why Khleva

It started with a label.

I had spent years learning to read labels. Organic cotton, GOTS, no synthetic finishes. Then I picked up an organic cotton jacket, turned it inside out, and read the small tag at the seam: Lining: 100% polyester.

The part you see was natural. The part that touches you all day was plastic.

I put it back and picked up a wool jacket instead. Same seam, same small tag. Wool on the outside, polyester on the inside.

After that I checked every coat I could find, and it was the same story again and again. The lining is rarely on the front of the tag, and almost no one turns the coat over to look.

What a polyester lining means
  1. i.

    Plastic against your skin.

Polyester is made from petroleum. In a lined coat it is the layer closest to you — on your arms, your back, your neck — for hours a day, all winter.

  2. ii.

    It does not breathe.

Wool regulates warmth and moisture. A synthetic lining traps both, which is why so many good coats still feel clammy indoors and hold on to odour.

  3. iii.

    It sheds.

Synthetic fabrics release microfibres through wear and cleaning. Natural fibres break down; polyester stays in the environment.

  4. iv.

It undoes the reason you bought wool.

You pay for a natural fibre, then wear a synthetic one against your body. The label on the front tells only half the story.

So I am making the coat I could not find. A 100% wool shell, a 100% cotton lining, and nothing hidden inside. One coat, made properly, to wear for a decade.

If you read labels too, you are who this is for. Join the waitlist, and your coat can carry a label worth turning over for.

The Founding 500

A label worth turning over for.

KHLEVA No. 001 of 500 100% wool · 100% cotton lining

The first 500 coats will be numbered by hand on the inside label, sewn into the lining where only you will see it. Founding members also choose their colour and size before the first run is cut. There will not be a second first 500. The waitlist is how our people find us first.
